Reassuring Faith

Comfortable is a good place to be.
But that is not where you grow.

Miles away from the protected shelters of love and affection, the first day of Law School might not be a very comfortable experience for many.
Nervous and apprehensive, you find yourself lost amidst the unknown.
Unfamiliar faces, cold stares and arrogant turn of heads might break your self-confidence into jagged pieces.
But before you decide to pack your bags and start journey back to the familiar abode, stop.

Don’t startle when someone reciprocates your enthusiastic attempt of striking a conversation with a blank look or judge that  nervous boy sitting all crouched up in the corner.  Some of them might be very vocal in their expressions- laughing their heart out on hearing a random joke which probably didn't even make sense to you, while some others will most definitely refuse to even nod to your bright smile. Don’t judge them either.

Some of you will be drawing cartoons in your notebook while some others will be engrossed in listening to what is being briefed on the Dias. Some of you will jump at the idea of staying back after the orientation programme to familiarise with one another while some will just return to the hostel with a gloomy face.
Believe me when I say which ever group of people you can relate yourself to or whatever emotion you are experiencing at the moment is absolutely normal and anything but usual.

Everyone is as lost to the unfamiliar as you are. Some are trying to hide their apprehensions by laughing it out while some others are so intimidated that the best they can do is force a feeble smile at you. Everyone is as jostled as the ship in high seas, all finding their own anchor to familiarity and comfort.
But it is this very feeling of despair, worthlessness, emptiness, remorse or regret and all other emotions that are playing doldrums in your heart at the moment that will lead to grow in ways unknown over the next few months.

Stepping out of your comfort zone, challenging your infirmities you will find love, friendship, unfaltering support and unfathomable knowledge in a place where you wouldn't regret residing even for a day.
The girl who first refused to even smile at you will be the one you confide all your secrets in. The loud girl who you once detested might be the one with an ever-helping heart guiding you in your projects and that boy who you saw all crouched up in the corner will turn out to be amazing orator teaming up with you to win debates.

And in this process of learning and unlearning, somewhere down the line you will find your comfort and solace. Eventually or gradually these little experiences will not only help you grow immensely as a human but will nurture your heart with strength and determination.
And someday when you reflect back upon your initial days of Law School, you will realise how silly you were to judge people and form notions about them, how judgemental you were of the unfamiliar before even giving it a chance to familiarise and how ridiculously insane you were to even allow the thought of leaving college creep into your tiny head.

But for this fleeting moment of chaos and confusion, you need to hold on to the person you are. Believe that no matter how dark things may seem or how difficult it may be for you to find your footing when you are completely astray, there is hope for each one of you here. Love that will soothe your edgy nerves and care that will protect you from all adversities.

Let your faith in yourself be bigger than the fears that shake you.

So to all the new learners, the Symbiosis Family welcomes you with warm hearts and outstretched arms. You are part of the Family and know no matter how hard you stumble, we will be right there to lift you up and help you soar high.

The Year of Re- Intergration.!! :)

The Sun shines in Delhi,         it rains heavily in Kolkata,           the shrine of Kedarnath re opens,           FIFA fever reaches its peak top,          the railway tickets see a price hike,            budget 2014 around the corner,                  twitter tweets,                           Facebook updates,                   metro runs,                       people walk,                   Govt. ration shop still loots,                   poor dies         and                     Jagatguru Shankaracharya is in a Parley with Sai baba.

What I really want to express is that nothing fascinates me more than the fact that Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA has got itself a new……………………. WEB PAGE! :P

New look, new photographs, amazing tag lines and link to the merit list, which reminds me that SLS-NOIDA has even got itself a new batch of students as well… Welcome Friends.!! :) We welcome you from all our hearts and lungs and kidneys… we always make sure that our fresher’s never feel that ‘KHIDMAT ME KOI KAMI REH GAYI’ :P

I suppose all of you must be really curious to know every bit about this budding college and we will definitely help you with that. This college has a campus, few guards at the gate, around 700 students, girls hostel, a parking area, a director and few faculty!!
So, now you must be thinking, what is so different about this one.?? Well there is..!

·        The campus is huge enough to roam around, talk, chat, spent time with your loved ones, with a tinge of greenery just at the center of it, with our national flag always kept high fluttering in the air. The moment you enter the gate you will find a beautiful atrium where you will hear the echo of your soul which speaks “ab main Harvey Spector hoon”. The campus has a 24*7 wi-fi facility which does not allow you to use Youtube and Facebook (you are here to study my friend) but does allow you to use around more than ten types of databases, which you can never explore in totality till the end of your life. Alright, that doesn’t mean we have nothing else…  there is definitely a well equipped library and a computer lab, moot court hall, stationery shop for your convenience so that Xerox are easily available before the exams and toilets of course.

·        The guards at the gate are the most humble one I have ever come across. They know how to co-ordinate and talk to students, girls shouldn’t worry because for them there are female security groups. You be good to them and they are like a family, they will help you whenever you need them and will never compromise with their discipline. But do not take them lightly, they carry rifles in case of emergency.!

·        The 700 odd students are someone you should never call SIR or MA’AM, don’t have to wish good morning, no ‘JAHAPANNAH TUSSI GREAT HO’ stuff, just respect and be friends with. They will give you a lavish fresher’s party, they would try for an unofficial one but trust me this won’t be happening. They have been there so they have the notes, examination papers and many such help which you will definitely need and believe you me… NO RAGGING.!! :) and many such experiences you will come across have which I cannot mention here.. Meet me in private and you will be enlightened my child.! ;)

·        The girls’ hostel I am talking about is the most disciplined one. The administration of the Hostel is our Director Sir himself. He take the responsibility and makes sure the needs and security are catered. In time is 7 PM and you and your parents are always updated about your well being and whereabouts. (P.S- I am not trying to influence anyone to not to opt for the hostel!!)

·        The parking space, for your information SLS, NOIDA’s parking space is no ordinary one.. It has the charm and trick of being whichever place we need. Back in the year 2013 at the time of SYMVAAD (Literary Fest) it turned itself into a terrific dance floor and students grooved at the beats of the DJ. This year at the time of Symfiesta (Annual cultural fest) it was the most lavish cafeteria one had ever seen. So, never underestimate the power of a common parking area.!

·        Now what is so unique about our director?? Well that you will find out on the very first day of your college.!(this is a surprise for you.) Trust me, you all will be most ‘COMFORTABLE’ around him, all the time.  And make sure, after the fresher’s party when he comes up for the thank giving ceremony, you all ask him to sing, because he is a wonderful singer.!

·        Our faculty!  Well faculty at every college is just as capable and qualified, it is always on the student to learn and extract the maximum out of him, and I don’t know why am I sounding so sane.!! Anyway, you will love the company of all our professors.

Experiences will include: Slaim sir’s shayaris in the Jurisprudence lecture.
Director Sir’s Wittiness in the torts classes.
Madhuker sir’s ‘I don’t care, till you don’t care’ attitude in the legal reasoning classes.
And then we have strict and stern Mrs. Negi, whom you should never mess up with, as she heads the examination department.
Mrs. Mishra, the head of cultural cell and social sciences teacher, too sweet.
Mrs.Mittal, the lady behind the publication cell.
Mr. Lamba, who might make you hungry in his lectures as he talks a lot about food.

The praise list is never ending and I am too tired.. So, welcome friends and we strongly hope that you enjoy the next 5 years stay at Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA.!

We extend our warmth on behalf of our society and every other society and the college as a whole. Have fun and exploit as much as you can and remember the kind words of our Director Sir (The Baba of all the Babas) …
We all are learners and learning never ends as the process of learning is never ending! (Kaye Kartos!!)

See you all soon.!!

Summing Up, In Summers.!! :)

Hello friends, it is good to be back, we hope you guys are doing great. Recently we have to go through a lot of criticisms like, we don't work, we are not functional and much more, for not posting anything and we should firstly apologize for the same as we were having our exams, but one should know that some of us like criticizing someone and something just in order to gain some brownie points and we really don't care because we strongly believe that people should be opportunistic.!!! :) Anyway, exams are finally over now and it is time that you should be informed about the latest happenings.
Let us talk about the examination, we had recently. What we personally believe is that our college has the best examination schedule, 5 papers 5 days and we are done. It is like beheading in one whack- no scream,  (Source- House of Cards :P) and believe you us, it is not at all painful, because even if we were given preparation gaps between two papers, we wouldn't have studied. All those non-law students reading this, just FYI- law isn't easy, it is so damn difficult that we give up all our hopes before the exams. I bet you to read and remember all the statutes, Act, Laws along with Sections and Case laws (with citations), so you see we just recovered from one of our worst nightmares- The University Exams...!!
But the nightmare isn't over yet, for our senior most batch. Just one more day friends before the bell rings and you receive Satan's Knock on your door- All the best.!! But what after that.?? This will take our seniors in the final year of their college life. They must be thinking how quickly did four years of their life vanished in air..!! All the very best.!!
Moving  further, this summer we all are prepared to beat this heat with Internship guys.!! Yes, all of us are again interning this time at several places- Sahara Legal, AZB, J. Sagar Associates, SRGR Law Offices and may other places, including high and supreme court as well. With 39-40 Degrees in the air we are all set to learn and gain experience from the best in our field. So a few quick points to all those interning in this heat- Drink plenty of water, Eat healthy food, fruits are always good, avoid oily and junk food, they are not worth eating in summers, those driving two wheelers make sure you cover yourself properly to avoid getting in a direct contact with heat waves i.e. loo. Onions are extremely useful in summers, they keep you cool so eat them (don't forget to freshen up your mouth after that, :P you may disgust away your client..!! )
Next big thing on our campus is the Ascent Moot Court, 2014, the intra moot court, open for the students of all the batches. The selected on gets to represent our college at the National Level.. So, gear up guys and all the best.!! Junior, this would be a real tough fight for you we believe as you all would be contesting against your seniors.. So a Best of Luck to you guys as well.!!
Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA  even marked a successful beginning of our Annual Youth Festival, SYMFIESTA, this year it was a hit with more than 12 National Colleges participating, though we received several criticisms for the way it was organized and we strongly appreciate it and would even request all those from our college who tried defending it by writing long posts and trying to prove your point, that isn't professional at all, that portrayed that we are not open for change.! Certainly we are happy with our performance and trust us guys next year it will be even bigger.!!! :)
In the new academic year we have varieties of projects coming up well, the two most important ones are:-
·        Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA- National Moot Court Competition. Yes, friends, we are coming up with our own National moot court competition and trust me this will be a hell of a roller coaster ride.!! :)
·        Sym- MUN'14- The National MUN is back in the town of NOIDA and the team is working real hard to make it a success, so all the MUN-nurs get ready to put your motion on the table.!!

Trust me it is always feels great to write and express..! Will keep you posted in future as well, excuse us if there is any sort delay in the news, we will make sure that you are posted on time every time.....!!
For those who want to write and express, remember this blog is open to all, we The Bohemians, promote free expression in any mode, poems, write ups, stories, drawing and the blog even promotes Hindi language as well.

May it please the Court...!!!!

We noticed that our junior most batch is struggling through the basics of mooting and court mannerism which we duly acknowledge and respect, hence the following post is for all the green horns in the mooting world where you will find some mooting tips that might help you when you enter the court room...

All the best.!!

1. How to open?
Once you are on the podium, you start with "May it please the Hon'ble court.?" And then you wait for a reply, if you get a yes, proceed to the second level after saying "much obliged your lordship/ladyship", if the answer is a no, then say. "the counsel is appearing before this hon'ble court, under the purview of section XYZ of Civil/criminal Procedure code or Article ABC of the constitution as per which this Hon'ble court has the jurisdiction to listen to the said matter" Then you will definitely get a yes, and hence you proceed saying "Much Obliged your Lordship or ladyship"

2. What next?
2.1 "Your lordship/ladyship the counsel along with the co-counsel is appearing on behalf of the Plaintiff/defendant in the matter of X v. Z"
2.2 "your lordship/ladyship, during the course of this argument the counsel would be dealing with issues no. 1 and 2 (or whatever your split is) and would be taking ___ minutes of the court's precious time and the co-counsel would be dealing with issues no. ___ and ___ and would be taking ___ minutes of the court's precious time, and ___ minutes being reserved for rebuttals."

3. following which....
We are usually told to begin with "If your lordship/ladyship are well versed with the facts and satisfied with the jurisdiction clause, may the counsel proceed to the first issue."
Which I personally not in favor of, 8/10 times the Lordship/ladyship are not aware about the facts and there is no point asking whether they are satisfied with the jurisdiction clause or not, this goes against you, never talk about the jurisdiction unless asked.
So this is how I start, "if your lordship/ladyship may please the counsel would like to brief your lordship/ladyship with the facts of the case." If yes then "Much obliged your lordship/ladyship", if a no then "Indeed" and proceed to the issues. (Don't waste more than a minute on it.!)
4. After which we start with our issue, "the first issue at hand being, that..... (should be affirmative).
And then you go on and on and on........

But always remember---:
  •      If there is a lady judge along with a male judge, before proceeding always seek her permission, "may the counsel collectively refer the bench as your lordships??" and then and only then proceed, else your ladyship might not like it, moreover always have a smiling face, whenever you address her, that helps, trust me!!
  • Secondly, never interrupt a judge when he or she is speaking or asking you anything, always stop wherever you are, even if that argument is your life savior, just shut up when they start speaking.
  •   Never use the word 'I' it's 'The Counsel' always.
  •   In the court room, you always 'beg pardon' or 'apologies your lordship/ladyship' and never 'sorry'.
  •    Never say "please see such and such page of the memorial'' it is always, 'if the counsel may kindly draw your lordships attention to  page no. ____ and footnote no. __ of the written submission.."
  •  Never use 'Yes' rather say 'Indeed'.
  • Whenever you feel like agreeing with whatever your lordships have said use the phrase 'Precisely your lordships'.
  •  And when you don't agree, never say 'No your lordship.' Say '"the counsel humbly begs to differ with your lordship on this point".
  • Be confident, calm and composed, argue slowly, don't rush through your arguments.
  •   Make sure you are well versed with the facts of the case, always mention the facts in between your arguments, law should be properly linked with the facts.
  •   Avoid passing chits to your speaker, it leaves a negative impact on the judges.
  • Don't read your memorial, just refer them, try pleading without the memorial.

If you don't know any answer to the questions asked try using any one of the following-
a. you lordship the counsel would be dealing with that query of yours in his/her further arguments.
b. your lordship the counsel will address them same in a while.
c. the counsel would take up that part in his/her rebuttals as currently he/she is unaware about it.*

*This should be your last resort....!!!!! try answering the questions asked, if possible...!!

And once you are done with your pleading-:
1. The first speaker should always end saying that, "if your lordships have no further query may the counsel call upon the co-counsel to address the next __ issues" wait for a yes  and then "much obliged, it was an honor, pleading before this hon'ble bench."
2. the second speaker should remember the Prayers by heart and should proceed to it after saying "if your lordships have no further query, may the counsel proceed to the prayers.?" .  Never read it out, moreover he/she should end it the similar manner as sated above, " it was an honor, pleading before this hon'ble bench."

Symfiesta'14- Behind the Conference Room's Door.!!

Breaking news.. The Bohemians have finally cracked the Conference Room code and and have discovered life beyond it... yes my friends there are living beings living, working and having fun on the other side of the door.... This is the most exclusive news available only with the SymLaw Diaries....

Behind every door there is a hidden and an unknown story, which none of us know. Today The Bohemians will lift that veil in order to show the world, what exactly lies behind that door of the conference room and what happens behind that door.......

The following person was rarely seen in the conference room, but his name was taken almost every once in ten words... He always stayed invisible and was only seen on papers in the form of Signatures, but the the strange part was such that, Inka Naam Hi Kaafi Thaa...!!

He was refereed to as Director Sir and the primary aim of the rest of the living beings was to discover- "What The Big Boss Was Cooking..??",
So here ladies and gentlemen, our first discovery behind the doors is the man rarely seen by others but others were under his constant watch.. The BIG BOSS....
If you can smell What The Big Boss Is Cooking..!!!!
(Director, SLS-N, Dr. C.J. Rawandale.)

When we accelerated our research work, we found an extremely soft spoken personality, she was richest amongst the lot and rest of the organisms always had to rely upon her for any financial work, she was also referred sometimes as the Financial Mistress....
We found out that all the money used to flow form her and without her things would have been really difficult...
Apna Bank..!!
(Ms. Sonam Saxena, Accountant, SLS-N)

The Next one was the innocent and sweetest looking of all.. She was the Ma'am of all, we were told that everything was done through her and things would come to a stand still even when she was on a lunch break.. Interesting.. Have a look...
Ma'am Symfiesta..!!
(Mrs. Priyamvada Mishra, Cultural Head, SLS-N)

Following this discovery of The Bohemians, the next 7 discoveries showed almost similar traits, as follows-:

1. Lost.
2. Tired.
3. Exhausted.
4. Hungry.
5. Thirsty.
6. Sleepy.
7. Unwell.
8. Unkempt.
9. Messed up..
10. Part of Organising Committee.

In the beginning we were pretty shocked to see the results, but when we tried getting deep into this research, we almost cried.. :'(. Our hearts tore apart, tears rolled down our cheeks and we decided to share their story with you.

It all started  in the Month of February, when the whole college was busy in their assignments and tutorials these 7 people were selected to be the core of the Symfiesta working committee... That day everything in things in their lives changed, FOREVER...!!

No more classes for them to attend, when we all enjoyed our lectures and studied hard for our university exams, these took a pass and made Symfiesta their life.. When we all enjoyed the classroom activities of presentations, vivas, assignments and struggle for attendance, these people were on an exemption, working hard and sweat to make something happen... when we all were enjoying our break and having lovely and delicious food, they survived on free Real Fruit Juices.. Yes my friends such was the life of the Symfiesta's Organising Committee.. (Damn.!! Should have been in Organising Committee... I Soo Freaking Hate My Life..!!! )

Gaur se dekhiye in chehron ko...  Is maasoom chehre ke peeche chupa hai ek khatarnak aur chalaak dimaag... Pehchaan lijiye in chehron ko, 21st se lekar 23rd March tak apke Karta dharta yahi hain... :P :P

The prettiest girl I ever came across... She always keeps the energy of the committee up by her wonderful smile and pretty face. Guys fall for her like Mangoes from tree, she is the best example of beauty with brains. Yes.!! she has been the college topper for 2 consecutive Semester. Moreover, her soft spoken nature, ability to tackle situation and her sweetening and refreshing smile makes her the head of the Hospitality Team. So, now I guess you must have understood her importance in the Conference Room. She is none other than Ms. Apoorva Sharma..

This lady need no introduction. Since SLS, NOIDA has started to organize any event, she has been the backbone of all. With an energy level of 200% and enthusiasm of 500% this lady has only one policy in life- 'No rest before the the work is done.' She has been heading the Creative Team for the past 3 years now, she has also been in the Organising Committee of every  Event of SLS-N. For all those who do not know, don't fall for her smile, cuz behind that charismatic and beautiful smile lies and leader and a stalwart, who knows her job and does not like anyone interfering with the same.  She will be the sweetest person the earth, but if you try to mess with with her, even God will not be able to save you..  This girl is behind the creative work and designing the posters and banners for Symfiesta'14. She loves her work and we love her dedication, no matter what time it is and what day it is Ms. Aavritee Naithani will work and will only stop once its done... and yet she gets all the energy to dance afterwards. :)

The Stud of the Committe, the man with Skoda in car and Harley Davidson in Bike. He talks perfection and this Gurgaon ka Chora is best in his work.  You are missing on files and records, he will get all of 'em fixed.. For those who don;t know, this man is a DJ and a fantastic photographer as well. So if next time you find a party happening in the conference room, its Mr. Animesh Katiyar

Wan't to have some fun? Falling short of attendance?  Need a thrashing? In any of the above case you must contact the laughing lady above. Hailing from a family of a military background, this girl is as bold as James Bond.  Never ever, ever, ever, try being smart in front of her. Teri nani yaad dila degi... I mean it man.. Ms. Lavanya Gauri Pandit aka LPG, is one person in the committee who talks less and is always fun to hang around with. The girl is responsible for saving several TNGs, trust me she is even sweeter in reality than she looks in the pic. All that she has on her mind is Symfiesta and London Thumakda.. !! :P
The Son of Sardar, is the brain child of the Symfiesta's Budgeting. If at all the things were pulled up positively was because of his intense smartness and budget planning. A very soft spoken Sardar, Mr. Gurkaran Arora  who knows the right use of the calculator in Symfiesta'14.

Hum sabki Mummy. Yes, this sweet looking girl is the mother figure to all the members of the Symfiesta. She shouts, scold, makes everyone understand, presides over the arguments within the committee and decides accordingly, she makes sure that everyone has taken their breakfast, lunch and evening snack at time. If anyone is feeling low, he or she can talk to Ms. Swati Singh regarding the same, as she is the best counselor. Not only this, if your college has received the invite and your director liked it, he/she had to, cuz they were written and edited by this wonderful girl. Moreover, she is an active member of The Bohemians and was the co-convener to the Literary festival of SLS-N.

The Dabangg among all, the Sponsorship Committee head, this girl has made all of us proud, she and her team had done some miracles when it came to sponsorship and we can proudly host this very fest Symfiesta. She got us some hard cash and several in kinds sponsorship and because of which today we have prizes worth more than 20 Lakhs.. Amazing.!! No one else could have handled the same as efficiently as Ms. Akagrata Singh did, she is the apt Dabangg of our Committee, bahar se Sakht andar se Naram...:)

So, friends these were the Faces of the Committee of Symfiesta'14.. It is hapening and will happen and will be a success for sure, because of these Seven Wonders... :) :)

Now coming to our last discovery, which left us speech less... The following being was found sleeping over his laptop, with his gaming mouse drenched in sweat and next to him were speakers playing Eminem's Rap God!! When we took a closer look at his desktop we found several posters and banners, and hence we discovered a genius...

Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Rishabh Bhargawa. the master mind, the genius behind he wonderful and amazing posters and banners.. He knows Photoshop and Windows do well that even Bill Gates sometimes seeks his advice. He looks studious, but trust me he is the most fun loving person I ever came across and  all the posters and banners you see on campus, off campus, online, offline, in dreams, in realities,  all, not some but all are the product of this Mastermind Bhargawa.  This man worked 22 hours a day, never went back home and kept on working on the posters and banners and took a breath only when they were done. We all are really thank full to him as none would have been possible without posters and banners. All the promotional activities were possible because such were ready.  So, all our sponsors and partners and the participants if you liked our Fest's banners and posters you know whom to thank.!!

That's all folks.... We will be back with many more updates about Symfiesta and other happenings on the campus of SLS-NOIDA, till then keep following us and keep the energy level up for the Carnival of Symfiesta'14, Cuz We All Go A Little Mad Sometimes...!!

Symfiesta... Kahani Ab Tak Kiiii..!!!! :)

Ladies and gentlemen. The Bohemians are back with some latest, spicy and hot gossips on the campus of SLS-NOIDA.
Things this time are pretty hectic for us, tireless efforts, sleepless nights and too much of headache.... Yes.... it's Symfiesta'14 baby...!! :) :)

Things weren't easy for us to pull up our first Youth Festival, first of all we had a huge discussion over the name, polling, voting, fighting, booth capturing and finally SYMFIESTA.!! She is the Hon'ble member of our Literary Society, The Bohemians, having a literary experience of 2 years. Her pen is is as cute as she is and the product of the pen as literary as this pic of her. So if you run out of ink of thoughts, make sure that Naina is informed.. :)
